早朝浜益を出てトンネル銀座を進みます。かつての「陸の孤島」雄冬を過ぎ、増毛が近づいてきた頃から雨が降り出しました。増毛では猛烈な雨となり、留萌に着く頃には体から水が滴るほどとなって、これ以降の進行を断念しました。奇しくも用具の防水テスト走行となってしまいました。
